A Mother’s Fight, A Son’s Courage

My son Jaydon was born with sickle cell disease, and our journey has been one of resilience, faith, and advocacy. Sickle cell has challenged us with hospital stays, pain crises, and the uncertainty of treatment plans. Yet, in the midst of it all, I have witnessed the incredible strength of my child and the unwavering support of our family. As a mother, I’ve learned to advocate fiercely, navigating homebound schooling, coordinating with medical teams, and balancing work while caring for my children. The emotional and physical toll is heavy, but so is the love that fuels me to keep going.

Faith has been my anchor. I believe that God’s hand is over our lives, guiding us through each step — from long nights in the hospital to hopeful moments as we prepare for a bone marrow transplant. By sharing, I hope to raise awareness about the realities of sickle cell, to encourage other families who may feel alone, and to remind the world that behind every diagnosis is a life full of purpose, courage, and hope.

  1. Your son, you, and your family sound amazingly strong! Thank you for advocating for him and sharing his story with others! All the best, Kathy (Team member)
