Hope

I’m 25 years of age, living in Nigeria..been diagnosed ever since I was born
And I spent my early years in hospital..I’ve had 1 blood transfusion so far and sometimes when I’m in crisis all I could think of is death..my eyes look so yellow and I look like a 13 year old..large gatherings always been my fright cause of the way my eyeball is..I just want to have a white eyeball and live normally

  1. I'm really sorry you're going through this. It’s tough to feel so unwell and self conscious. Please keep hope and consider reaching out to a specialist who can offer tailored support.

    1. Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out and share how you're feeling. I just want to give you a big hug! It sounds like you have hard a long road through your diagnoses all while growing up and going through all the "normal" kid things. Please know you are not alone in this, we are here for you! Our community understands and is always available if you need anything! While I can't speak directly to living with Sickle Cell, I wanted to share some articles written by our leaders who live with this, as you do. I am hoping other community members will also pop in to share with you. In the meantime, I hope some information I share below will help you realize just how special you are! Sending hug and positive vibes!! Please keep in touch!! -Beth (Team Member)
