Hi

Hello everyone, I am new here my name is Ifejesu I am a Nigerian, 19 years old and I have been having pains since I was little. And growing up people around me doesn't understand what I am going through and they blame me anytime I have an attack saying it's my fault because I did this or that but my mom is always praying for me so that gives me comfort. I am glad I found this community with people like me 😊

  1. Hi
Welcome, brother. Hope you're doing well

    1. Welcome to the warrior community! You have a space now where you will always be understood and treated with respect. Those who are blessed to have little to no pain are unaware of just how severe our aches and crises can be. Most people feel helpless at the sight of a warrior in pain and will rationalize or deflect in order to soothe their own minds. Meanwhile, we're still in pain. Let those folks be. Take good care of yourself, you're worth it!

      1. Welcome Ifeseju. I'm also Nigerian and glad that you've found the site helpful. Feel free to connect with any of our moderators/community leads. There isn't enough information about sickle cell disease among the general public so oftentimes, people aren't equipped with the tools needed to properly care for people living with sickle cell disease. Learn this early - people can't give you what they don't have and like to place blame elsewhere. It's not okay but try not to let it consume you. Find other warriors that can be pillars of support when you are dealing with pain or other sickle cell complications.
