A lesson learned

Before I got married I ran a genotype test,and the result came out that I as AA and my partner AS ,NOT knowing the lab attendant never carried out the test properly,we got married had our first child,there was no issue,till we had our second child my son, when he was 6month we noticed his hands were swollen and he kept crying I googled for the symptoms and found it possible the infant could be a sickel- cell carria,went to the hospital ran some test and the result came out positive,and that was how my nightmare stated I was aboudon by his dad and have been single handly taking cear of him,and constantly watching him pass through so much pains during his crieses

  1. I'm so sorry that you didn't have a supportive spouse and had to go through caring for your child with SCD alone. As a caregiver, I urge you to connect with other caregivers who know that struggle
    firsthand as they can share resources/advice so you don't feel alone. Reach out to and who are moms with warrior kids. They do amazing work in the advocacy space and can be a pillar of support for you.
