Hematologist Talks Stigma and Advocacy
Recently, Halimat, a fourth-year medical student with sickle cell anemia, sat down with Dr. Titilope Fasipe to talk all things sickle cell. Dr. Fasipe is a pediatric hematologist and a sickle cell warrior. She is also co-director of the Sickle Cell Program at Texas Children's Hospital and has a Ph.D. She is dedicated to the sickle cell community as a care provider and warrior.
In this video, she discusses her experiences of stigma related to sickle cell disease (SCD) and how she came into advocacy. She shares her unique perspectives as both patient and care provider to highlight gaps in care for sickle cell warriors.
