Going to the ER

Has anyone here gone to the ER during Covid? Did you feel safe?

  1. I had to several times. I didn't feel safe to be completely honest and felt like I had to be on point when in came to ensuring nurses & doctors were taking the correct precautions when going from patient to patient such as washing hands, wearing gloves and cleaning equipment like oxygen and blood pressure machines.

It was also difficult whilst being in pain and on pain meds having to be alert and aware enough to advocate for myself since no visiting was allowed at all.

ER during covid had probably been the worst experience I've had in a long time. I wish I could have been more prepared for the experience

    1. , I'm sorry you had to go through that, that must have been stressful! I'm glad you're feeling better and hope you won't have to go back into the ER anytime soon. Sonia - MacularDegeneration.net Team Member

    2. Thanks Sonia. I hope so too.

  2. Hey I live in England but I did go to hospital during covid and it was fine. They swab you if they know that you are being admitted and keep covid patients well away from the main patients, I hope this helps.

    1. this is definitely encouraging to hear that active testing for COVID is done. Thank you for sharing your experience! Sincerely, Sonia - MacularDegeneration.net Team Member

  3. I stopped going because of the stigma of being an addict. Here in Wisconsin, they have signs up referring chronic pain patients back to their pain team or pain management. This was before covid-19, so I don't know how it is now.

    1. that's horrible! 🙁

  4. Great question! I'm curious to hear others chime in.
